전 은 희 Jeon Eunhee b. 1972
사람들이 만들어낸 삶의 장소와 풍경 그리고 어떤 상황에 대한 이야기를 그림으로 그리고 있다. 평범한 장소와 그 안에 존재하는 사물들의 의미와 사적인 역사성을 드러내는 작업을 시작으로, 현재는 개인적, 사회적인 사건 등 누구에게나 일어날 수 있는 현실적인 난제를 표현한 작업을 통해 사물화·도구화 되어가는 사람들의 무력감과 인간의 탐욕이 만들어낸 문제적 현상들을 이야기하고 있다.
성신여자대학교에서 동양화를 전공했으며, 2015년 도시의 부재된 장소에 대한 장소감 표현 연구로 동대학원에서 미술학 박사학위를 받았다. 2009년<벽-공간의 기억>을 시작으로 <변방풍경>(2012), <DOORPLATE-오래된 집>(2013), <Empty Nest>(2015), <보이지 않는 시간>(2018), <관람자들>(2019), <말없는 눈>(2020), <입안 가득한 침묵들>(2020), <우리의 밤은 너무 밝다(2021)>등의 개인전을 가졌으며 다수의 단체전에 참여하였다. 2018년 광주화루 최우수상을 수상하였고, 서울문화재단 시각예술부문 선정작가(2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022)와 서울시청 전시 선정작가(2014), OCI미술관 창작스튜디오(4기,2014)와 영은미술관 창작스튜디오(11기,2019) 입주작가로 활동하였다

Jeon Eunhee (b. 1972)
Jeon paints stories about places and landscapes shaped by people, and about particular situations. Beginning with works that reveal the meanings and private historicity of ordinary places and the objects within them, she now addresses realities that could happen to anyone—personal and social events—exploring the helplessness of people reduced to objects and tools, and the problematic phenomena produced by human greed.
Jeon majored in Korean Painting (Oriental Painting) at Sungshin Women’s University and earned her Ph.D. in Fine Arts there in 2015 with research on expressing a sense of place in the city’s absent sites. Since her first solo show Wall—Memory of Space (2009), she has presented: Borderland Landscape (2012), DOORPLATE—Old House (2013), Empty Nest (2015), Invisible Time (2018), Viewers (2019), Eyes Without Words (2020), A Mouth Full of Silences (2020), and Our Night Is Too Bright (2021), among others, and has participated in numerous group exhibitions. She received the Grand Prize at the 2018 Gwangju Hwaru and has been selected multiple times for support by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture in the Visual Arts category (2013, 2014, 2016, 2018–2022). She was also selected for an exhibition at Seoul City Hall (2014) and held residencies at OCI Museum of Art (4th cohort, 2014) and Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art (11th cohort, 2019).
